Impact of Covid-19

Fieldwork across the three countries was scheduled to start in the early months of 2020 which was interrupted due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In Colombia fieldwork started in January 2020 and then paused for a few months, whereas in India the fieldwork could only begin in 2021.  In the absence of in-person fieldwork, data was collected via phone-calls, WhatsApp chats and other virtual means, till in-person fieldwork could resume again. Research focussed on documenting the loss of school spaces and routines for youth lives, as well as tracing (and in some cases supporting) schools’ efforts to continue to engage students and communities.
